Our Trips: Depart our quad base and head across stony braided riverbeds, see glacial fed rivers and listen to our guides tell you about local history. The drive takes you through dense rain forest and you soak up the atmosphere as you pass by ferns, mosses and mature podocarp trees in this lush watery world.
Ride out to 10,000 year old moraine left by ancient glacial pathways and enjoy enough space to roam. View snow capped peaks and Ka Roimata o Hinehukatere otherwise known as the Franz Josef glacier as it plunges from around 2500 metres into the green canopy of the forest a mere 230 metres above sea level.
Enjoy a cup of tea or chocolate at the shelter and hear the old Maori legend of the glacier, its geology and tales of pioneers and adventures from times past. Take on the mud if you dare!
Vehicles: Our vehicles are incredibly easy to ride. These fantastic bikes are a first in New Zealand and feature a specially designed passenger seat enabling whole families to enjoy this experience in safety and comfort. Sit back and enjoy the ride!
We use Bombardier 400cc automatic ATV quad bikes manufactured in Canada and made specifically for the recreational quad market. These robust and stable bikes set a new and high standard for safety and comfort and allow any age group to experience this fantastic trip.
We Provide: Guides, Helmets, Safety glasses, Raincoats, Over trousers, Rubber boots, Gloves, Socks and Hats.
Tips: Often the conditions on the West Coast of New Zealand are changeable and the weather can be extreme with heavy rain being common. This makes for great quad biking adventures and some pretty wild muddy riding!! If other attractions are closed due to heavy rain we are a great option for thrills and fun in the rain.
For your comfort dress warmly in two or three layers and bring bottled water. The New Zealand sun is harsh and can burn on even overcast days so sunscreen is recommended. On fine days a pair of sunglasses will reduce glare.
