We depart from the Martinborough Information Centre (Pickups may be able to be arranged within the Martinborough boundary. Please inquire when making a booking) at approximately 10.30am (week days) and 11.20am (weekends and public holidays) On weekdays because of the earlier departure time we visit one of the four vineyards included in the tour before travelling out to Murdoch James Estate. (On weekends Murdoch James is the first vineyard visited). Here we are entertained and instructed in the art of appreciating fine wines. Murdoch James is also the venue for our lunch in a vineyard cafe. On a sunny Wairarapa day the views from the balcony of their River View Cafe are spectacular, or if it's a little chilly the welcoming wood fire creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. (Please note that weekdays during the off season the following lunch venues may be substituted. The Old Winery Cafe at Margrain Vineyard, or the Village Cafe at the Martinborough Wine Centre.
After lunch the tour takes in another three vineyards (two on weekdays). These are selected from and may include Te Kairanga, Muirlea Rise, Martinborough, Palliser Estate, Alana Estate or Claddagh vineyards. From time to time others may be added subject to availability.
The final tour visit of the day is to the Martinborough Wine Centre where the clients will have the opportunity to choose from a selected list of fine Wairarapa wines not included in the tour's visits or a voucher for a delicious cheese board and tea/coffee.
Normally there would still be enough time left to have a wander through the interesting range of retail shops that now make up the Martinborough Village. The tour finishes when the clients are delivered back to their pick-up point at around 3.45pm weekdays and 5.00pm at weekends and public holidays.
